Abstract
This article is the original journal description of the sdcMicro R package, presenting its early capabilities for statistical disclosure control of microdata. It covers methods for estimating re-identification risk and for anonymising data through recoding, local suppression, and perturbation, all implemented as open, reproducible R code. Appearing in the first volume of Transactions on Data Privacy, it established sdcMicro as a freely available alternative to closed, proprietary SDC tools. The package described here has since grown into one of the most widely used toolsets for microdata anonymisation.
