Active Nestlé (industry-funded)

Risk-based anonymization and pseudonymization for Nestlé

FHNW

About the project

An industry-funded engagement helping Nestlé share and use data defensibly under the EU GDPR/EDPB framework. We begin with a formal disclosure-risk assessment, target anonymization where the data allows and optimize pseudonymization where analytical utility genuinely requires it, and test all three re-identification routes — identity, attribute and inference disclosure — not k-anonymity alone.

The engagement reflects SwissAnon’s core stance: pseudonymized data remains personal data, so anonymization is the goal wherever it does not defeat the analytical purpose, and every release is designed and documented for the specific recipient and context. The project is nearing completion. It is led by Prof. Dr. Matthias Templ (FHNW), with Roman Müller and Oscar Thees on the project team.
