Workshop Announcement: Anonymization and Synthetic Data – Methods, Tools, and Applications

This workshop offers hands-on training in data anonymization and synthetic data generation techniques, targeting professionals in research, data protection, and public administration seeking practical skills.

The curriculum covers legal frameworks and foundational concepts, including identity definition within anonymization contexts and methodological overviews. Participants gain exposure to specific techniques such as microaggregation, local recoding, local suppression, and classical synthetic data approaches.

The workshop includes practical training with sdcMicro software, followed by sessions on re-identification risk assessment and attacker scenarios. Attendees also explore utility metrics and synthetic data generation using statistical, deep learning, and language model approaches.
