DSEmbedded 2.0: Advancing Data Protection Literacy in Switzerland

Reto Bürgin has joined the Swiss Data Anonymization Competence Center through the swissuniversities-backed initiative DSEmbedded 2.0. The project pursues multiple interconnected objectives to enhance data protection knowledge across Swiss research institutions.

The initiative encompasses development of guidelines and video tutorials alongside workshop organization to build professional capabilities. It also involves crafting illustrative examples of anonymization methods and establishing a pilot advisory service for researchers navigating data anonymization challenges.

A notable component includes evaluation of help tools to simplify data anonymization for non-experts, including evaluation of generative AI algorithms for selected anonymization steps.

Bürgin’s involvement strengthens institutional connections with external researchers and enhances project quality through expanded networking opportunities beyond ZHAW and the swissuniversities funding framework.
